“Vivid Live is a festival of music and art held annually at The Sydney Opera House. In 2011 it will run from May 27th to June 5th and will be curated by Modular’s Steve Pavlovic”.
The exciting prospect of The Cure performing way down in the Southern Hemisphere within one of Australia`s most iconic buildings is pure brilliance. Sure, Robert Smith has taken the band on numerous world tours throughout the last three decades, but there`s something quite special surrounding the `Vivid Live` Festival. Hosted at the splendid Sydney Opera House on 31st May and 1st June with confirmed surprise past and present band members The Cure will perform their first three album releases in their entirety under the banner of `Reflections`
“From the punchy, offbeat, starkly unadorned songs of `Three Imaginary Boys`, through the increasingly shadowy and quixotic pieces of `Seventeen Seconds`, to the singular melancholic grandeur of `Faith`, this is a rare chance to experience the origins of one of popular music’s greatest stories”.
The full festival line-up for the complete week is over at the Modular People Website. If The Cure Wasn`t enough to push towards that 24hr plane ticket the opportunity to see Spiritualized, accompanied by 34 musicians will blow a few minds with a complete rendition of the`Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space` album. A fantastic event that sadly only a few here in the UK will get to see in the flesh – All of a sudden Australia seems so far away.
