Silversun Pickups, Neck Of The Woods.

“Neck of the Woods sees Silversun Pickups lighting out for the territories, stretching the boundaries of their exhilarating psychedelia with confidence, invention, and undeniable ambition.  Having long made their bones as masters of widescreen power, the Los Angeles-based band’s third Dangerbird Records album takes their filmic vision to another level entirely – this is full-on IMAX rock ‘n’ roll, in stereoscopic 3D and Sensurround. From the low-frequency thrust and motorik pulsebeat that drives “Mean Spirits” to the mesmerizing first single, `Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings),` the album fairly detonates with high definition creativity”.

Los Angeles based Silversun Pickups third album `Neck Of The Woods` is the follow-up to 2009′s Grammy-nominated `Swoon`and although not a band associated with churning out countless mediocre albums every year, the industry recognition and adoring fan-base makes the band an integral part of the Alternative Rock scene during the last decade. Released a couple of weeks back, I was expecting a reply from their record company following a publicity email offering the album to review, I`m not gonna name and shame, people are busy, I do understand that but if that`s what you`re paid for – it`s a fail my friend. I`d admit to being relatively new to the Silversun Pickups, over exposure has never been a hindrance for them, maybe the odd single blasted by request on XFM. I`m posting track 8 `The Pit` purely for the harmonic essence, it`s very reminiscent of  early `New Order` with lingering Hooky bass riffs and Bernard sumner`s lyrical knack of filling in vastly silent spaces – A gritty electronic post-punk enigma. A full album review posted errrr… sometime.
