“The Commuters might hail from New York, but their kinetic, personally revealing anthems capture an alt-rock essence that aspires toward worldwide appeal. Their commercial debut (As I Make My Way – EP) was released at the end of August and is comprised of 4 songs — `As I Make My Way`, `Bombs Away`, `Fallen From Grace` and `You’ll Stay Right Here` — all from their debut album, `Rescue` which is available now as a fantastic free download for a limited time. Their video for `As I Make My Way` was added to mtvU’s rotation in early October and they have received extensive airplay at college radio stations throughout the US.”
Don`t be fooled by The Commuters` journalistic-ally labelled Alt-Rock tab, there`s a prominent tender side to this versatile East Coast outfit. Jostling beside their fantastic lead single `As I Make My Way`, the eleven track release has a subtle mix of emotional issues and human faith – A touching piano tussle in the track `You`ll Stay Right Here` tackles love and loss, `Fallen From Grace` portrays regret, whilst asking gently strummed questions. The Commuters bond an occasionally contradicting track order with quick-fire Power-Pop (Bombs Away) and personal epiphany – `Rescue` is far from being enigmatic, I`d feel more inclined using the words dreamy or sentimental in summing up a brief audio vision of this terrific album 8/10.
