Mildly insane and wonderfully eccentric, Johnny5thWheel&thecowards are a satisfying shade of non-contemporary technicolor with a devotion to strange lyrical wit. Almost anyone can mutter a tune, only a few can present words as perfect visualizations, bright stories or devastating nightmares – The vocals provide a large part of the bands atmosphere and suspense, `Nancy`forms a tingling Marc Almond comparison, hitting those `Nonstop Erotic Cabaret` highs and lows with considerable theatrical style. It`s certainly not a record to blast from in-car entertainment, more suited to a dark padded room with a tiny key shaped spyhole. An exemplary release.
