“French beat maestros Sheetah et les Weissmüller are back with their new psychedelic album Evolution Française. Filled with 11 original compositions recorded at Circo Perrotti Studios (Gijon, Spain) by Jorge Explosion and Mike Mariconda, this LP explores the acid side of the combo : sitars, fuzz, horns, strings, tablas and strange effects surround bitter-sweet songs paying tribute to Love, Bonniwell Music Machine, the Beatles or les Fleurs de Pavot. Containing garage anthems (la Mauvaise Graine, Yin Yang Young, Elle n’aime qu’elle-même), acid daydreams (Lundisamedimache, Alone in the Sun, Coffee and Tea) or a lysergic tango (Suzanne ouvre-toi), Evolution Française is an hallucinating kaleidoscope of addictive sounds”.

Whatever language, however spoken, psychedelic Rock is notoriously versatile in sound and performance – If anything, Sheetah et les Weissmuller`s french vocals give `Evolution Française` a real sense of retro 60`s Beat credibility. This second album release is a cultural time-lock from a band that continue to remain highly animated in a music scene so devoid of any real meaning. In addition to their trademark bouncing front-man, suave organ tones and swirling guitar fuzz, these five guys from Lille rustle up quite a decent sitar sound for the opening track `Acid Toxic`- If unlike me, translation is essential, there are two tracks sung in English which in itself is inspirational.

A whirlwind of harmonious paisley and melodic retro beats, Sheetah et les Weissmuller are a refined continental sugar rush blessed with blasé hyper-riffs. Hipster style with Garage-Pop ambitions.

“Established in 1997, The Danglers are a Progressive Acid Rock trio consisting of electric violin, standup bass, and drums. The Danglers combine Jazz, Classical, Heavy Metal, Punk and Fusion stylings. The result being, superior musicianship and intelligent song writing often accompanied by improvisation. Known for their amazing live shows, The Danglers are a MUST see live band!
Individually, each member of The Danglers have been plucked to tour and record as members of Violent Femmes, The Tossers, Fred Anderson, Heidi Spencer and the Rare Birds, and many more throughout the band’s history”.

The technical artistry and musical momentum The Danglers generate is honestly amazing, this certainly isn`t commercial lightweight psychedelia or average Prog-Rock playfulness. The Milwaukee based trio`s rock compositions are almost neo-classical art forms, naturally non pretentious and completely absorbing. Performance art for the ears, the enthralling live shows come highly recommended, so if like myself you prefer instruments played by human beings and are passionate about music, The Danglers are a band that should not be overlooked.

Barbequtie descends upon The Boogaloo in North London on Friday 2nd March. The exquisitely run club nights are continuing to showcase exciting live talent and celebrate decades of musical subculture. The Din make their way across town from Camden to stir your soul with, in their own words “a heady blend of gypsy jazz and alternative acoustic indie …via Indian classical, Eastern European folk, flamenco and blues“. There`s a new album to plug `The Immaculate Consumption`- The violin/cello addictions give them touches of The Wonderstuff and The Levellers – The lyrical style is bold, filled full of big Northern towns and a mischievous spirit. Brighton Indie band `Run Young Lovers` take a share of the limelight that evening along with DJ Liam Young (XFM/Mat Horne`s Session).

“Fresno, California band The Quiet Americans was formed in 2010 by songwriter Luke Giffen and drummer Eli Reyes. The Quiet Americans combine bright melodies and animal like drums with fuzzed out guitar squall. Sort of like Link Wray meets Dinosaur jr. filtered through an echo chamber. The six song EP Medicine is their first release and is out on local cassette collective Coattrack Records. The recording of Medicine was a family affair, Eli is married to Luke’s sister, and Luke’s little brother Ross contributed moog synth to the record. The entire record was tracked to an old Tascam 8 track reel to reel recorder, in their practice space”.

Surf shack guitar haze and frantic Californian garage beats, The Quiet Americans are blatantly misleading us with their fantastic literary inspired name, they`re anything but softly spoken U.S citizens. The Fresno Alt-Rock band use heavily distorted power chords and frenzied percussion to push across a variety of moods and genres. Don`t be fooled by the three-chord intros, The Quiet Americans seem to run on auxiliary power for the first fifteen seconds, then boom! there`s not a fuse intact this side of Reno.
